Continental donates 100.000 Euro for the Organisation of “Doctors Without Borders”. On the 19th of November the Chairman of the Executive Board Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann handed over the cheque to Dr. Tibor Sasse, Member of the Executive Board of “Doctors Without Borders”.

Endless Energy: Electric Power from the Ocean
Hanover, November 2008 - There is an endless amount of energy available within the world’s oceans. So waves could be the energy resource of the future. What’s more, marine energy is produced without any CO2 emissions, so it is environmentally friendly as well. As a specialist in rubber and plastics technology, ContiTech has now developed “AquaBuOY”, a wave energy converter, together with its Canadian partner Finavera Renewables.

5,000 ducks raise funds for environmental protection projects in Timişoara, Romania
On October 4, five thousand ducks raced on the Bega River in Timişoara, Romania, during the “Bega Boulevard” event. The funds raised at the event will be used for local environmental protection projects.

Continental Employees Lose Weight for Charity
September 2008. Over a six-month period, around 250 employees at the Continental plant in Gifhorn slimmed down a total of 450 kg to win a donation "Small Kids – Always Well-Fed" relief fund. Continental donated one euro to charity for every kilo lost.

Hanover, May 2008 - Children are the most vulnerable traffic participants, they are unable to properly assess the dangers and often go unseen in blind areas. According to the German Statutory Accident Insurance, last year some 120,000 accidents involving children on the way to school were reported, 59 of which were fatal. All the more reason for parents to plan and practice the school route together with their children.

Due to the current energy crisis in South Africa, Continental Tyre South Africa (CTSA) has presented its comprehensive energy-saving project. Since the project began in 2005, the Continental plant has reduced its energy consumption by about 10%.
