Continental Tyres receives top honour from Deutsche Post World Net

2008.10.29 · First ever Global Supplier Day at Deutsche Post World Net honours best suppliers · Nine suppliers receive awards in three categories Continental Tyre Group is proud to announce that they have been recognized as one of the most improved suppliers in the inaugural Supplier Day Corporate Procurement by Deutsche Post World Net, the world’s leading logistics group. Continental was highly praised by the Group in the category - most improved supplier - for their high scoring in the companies CosMo procurement process showing continuous improvement of service levels within its DHL contract in the UK and European markets. Since 2005 the Deutsche Post World Net Group has focused more strongly on supplier evaluation and development. As well as optimizing costs, the program is aimed in particular at meeting ever rising demands in terms of quality and flexibility in the supply chain. “The right products need to be delivered in the specified quantities, at the right time and to the right place,” says Hugo Eckseler, head of Corporate Procurement of Deutsche Post World Net. “So it is important that our suppliers know precisely what we expect from them and that we know what they can deliver. We need to work together on optimizing performance levels, for only then do we achieve genuine win-win situations.” In the UK Continental supplies the commercial vehicle fleet of DHL Exel supply chain, a subsidiary of the Deutsche Post World Net group, after being awarded premier supplier status at the end of 2007 and through its emphasis on whole life cost management has delivered improvements in quality and processes at all levels. Tony Stapleton, Commercial Fleet Sales Manager of Continental UK commented: “We’re delighted to have been selected for this commendation. It really reflects the absolute commitment and determination of our people to provide the highest levels of service to our customers”. Suppliers were evaluated through Deutsche Post World Net’s procurement process and award categories included most innovative supplier, best supplier service and most improved supplier, with other winners in Continental’s category being the US temporary labor company Staffmark and global IT services provider, T-Systems.
