Continental has introduced its new cradle to grave ContiLifeCycle tyre management concept, which can reduce tyre operating costs by as much as 25% and help deliver significant savings in fuel consumption.

The ContiLifeCycle concept encourages hauliers to consider the significant impact correct tyre maintenance can have on vehicle running costs throughout the entire life of a tyre. It ensures you get the best out of your tyres by extending their life through regrooving and retreading which if carried out correctly results in significant cost savings.

Every new Continental tyre is designed with the ContiLifeCycle in mind, from choosing the correct new tyres for the correct application to regrooving and retreading the tyres. Continental also offers its customers a fleet audit and inspection service, as well as tyre husbandry training, to ensure professional tyre management practices are adopted.

By integrating the concept operators can benefit from additional mileage and potentially four lives from their tyres.

The ContiLifeCycle starts with choosing the right new tyres for the right application as almost one-third of the operating costs of a truck/trailer combination can be affected by selecting the correct new tyres alone. This is therefore an important decision, especially when Continental’s latest fuel saving tyres are used in long haul applications.

Regrooving is then encouraged as it is a proven method of extending the life of the new tyre. When carried out correctly and at the right time, it is an effective way of minimising operating costs, without risking casing integrity.

It is then recommended that the tyre is retreaded because this delivers further operating cost savings when compared to purchasing a new tyre.

Continental offers ContiRe, a full bead to bead hot retread range, which uses the very latest technology in casing examination so that the quality of the processed tyre is assured. Continental also has a cold cure retread offering, ContiTread, which compliments the existing range of hot cure retread products.

Due to the quality of Continental’s casing and its hot and cold retread processes,regrooving can then be carried out for a second time, which further extends the life of the retread.
